2014 Award by ADL & Sport PEI:

Volunteers recognized for their efforts

Organizers of the annual Wear Red Road Races were recognized recently by Sport PEI and Amalgamated Dairies Ltd with the Sport Volunteer of the Month award for April.  Dave Doherty, left of Amalgamated Dairies Ltd presents a Certificate of Recognition to Race Director Allan Callard, and Donna Earl, Executive Director, Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) that benefits from the race proceeds.  Over $2000 was raised from this year's event, which helps the MFRC deliver programs and services to the military community on PEI.

This was the sixth annual WR3, which attracted a capacity 225 participants to the 10km, 5km race/walk in Charlottetown, and the half marathon which started at the Pownal Sports Centre and finished at the Queen Charlotte Armoury. The races also included athletes with visual and physical disabilities.

Other committee members not pictured were Cathleen MacKinnon, John Acheson, Billy MacDonald, Stan Chaisson, and Lindsay West. The 2015 race is scheduled for April 18 and more information can be found at the  website.
