About the PEI Military Family Resource Centre

The PEI Military Family Resource Centre's (MFRC) primary goal is to ensure that the ever-changing needs of our military community are met, as we strive to enhance the quality of life for our CF members and their families. Our mandate is to provide support for Military Families living in PEI and to empower them, through the provision, promotion, and facilitation of community based programs, services and resources.  We are a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors, comprised of a minimum of 51% civilian families of Military members, who work as trustees on behalf of the Military community.

Some of the services provided include:  educational programs and resources to the families, emergency childcare, computer access, information and referral to local services, Support our Troops events, pre-deployment and reintegration briefings, a volunteer program, networking and social events, and deployment mail and parcel service.  The MFRC helps maintain the contact point for the families before, during, and after deployment of their loved ones.

Mail outs to our deployed CF personnel; special events to promote our Military Community; “Support Our Troops” merchandising; welcome programs; workshops; public presentations; and many other initiatives enable us to do just that.  The MFRC encourages involvement of our families in their local communities,

As part of our services to our deployed families, we are always looking for ideas to keep the children and extended family united while awaiting the safe return of their loved one.  The proceeds from WR3 provide recreational activities for these families, and could include bowling, swimming, skating, or a day at the gym.  We provide activities that ensure families have opportunities to be together and participate in physical activity, personal development, or to facilitate working through the challenges related to the uniqueness of military life.

Our Centre is located at HMCS QUEEN CHARLOTTE (effective 31 Jan 2016), 210 Water Street, Charlottetown.  We can be reached at 902-892-8999.  Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm.  We welcome and encourage everyone to come by the PEI MFRC to become familiar with the services that are offered, or to volunteer at the many activities that are provided to strengthen military families.  On behalf of everyone at our Centre, I invite anyone interested in learning more about us to drop in for coffee and a chat - anytime!
